Hey, all! Well, I can honestly say that the album is 98% complete. The music is already mixed, and just have to finish up a little bit of vocals. Here's the scoop: when Tom originally did his vocal tracks he did them to a cassette (remember those?) copy of the songs. I then brought in my gear to load the songs on, sync up the vocals, and be done with it. Of course not! For some reason that no-one caught until it was too late, the music tracks were just a hair faster than what Tom originally did, throwing everything off. Fortunately, Tom decided that it would be best to re-do the vocals. The results: well, not only did he knock out all 8 songs in a total of 9 hours, but his performance; well, he has outdone himself. This is a reminder of why I chose to work with him; his ability to grasp, evolve, and do the job, and do it quite well! OK, so this portion was an ass-kissing fest for Tom, but he deserves it!!

Anyway, the album WILL BE COMPLETED, and I have begun talking to a label, so cross your fingers!! See you in a few weeks! As you can tell, I'm very excited again!

Studio time is scarce, but effective. As we speak Tom is finishing up the song "Traces" and a few other touch-ups that he wants to hit. The guy works fast, so I'm not worried. I had to re-do the drums for the songs "Closer" and "As We Are", so there may be a difference in drum production; same place, different kit. I found the original takes too busy, so I decided to tone it down a bit. I'd say that mixing is about 60% done, but I don't think we are going to make the August date. Hey, you waited this long, right? I'd say it may be delayed about a month tops. We are almost there!
BTW, Tom is now singing for prog metal band Alchemy-X (www.alchemy-x.com), and is doing a gig in Bound Brook, NJ on Friday, July 15th.  Check their site for more info

3/22/05 - As you can see, been pretty busy with promoting the 2 song demo and getting reviews.  Also getting airplay, especially on www.theprogpalace.com.  Basically, I have decided NOT to retrack the drums. From a drummer's standpoint, I'm not happy about the limited mixing options I'll have, but it's not like it will be the first time. :)  From a songwritter/producer stance, I don't feel that I can recapture the energy that was put into the drumming performance the first time around, so I'll make do with what is there.  Everything is setup and ready to start loading vocal tracks.  Tom still has a couple of songs to complete, and he is also doing work for Alchemy X (www.alchemy-x.com), so his hands are going to be a little full.
"What Lies Within" is going to be featured on the Progpower 6 sampler CD (www.progpowerusa.com), and we are very excited about this opportunity to get the name out there at such a great event.  Thanks to Deron from Metal Ages Media for making this happen!

Vocals, mixing, and mastering will be completed at Homebrew Studios in Belleville, NJ.  Kevin is a very capable engineer, as is also familiar with the material.  (www.homebrewstudio.com) This means that............ August 15th, 2005, Transient will be proud to release their debut full-length album "The Circle."  (nope, we are not doing pre-orders, since that seems to be a curse! nope, I'm not going to let that go!)

Thank you to all whom have given their support, no matter how big or small!!

10/16/04 - With the exception of one or two essential pieces missing from the studio, I have not been idle. Tracks are being "cleaned up" on the 8 track, and more material is being written. As far as instrumental tracks go, it's actually about 75% done. Since I only have the one show with MFTT, nothing is getting in the way of me finishing this.

9/3/04 - I have finally realized that almost all of my music career has been that of either a hired gun, or the "final piece" to someone else's expression. There was a time where this was all I wanted, and it worked out..............sometimes. A week ago, I pondered this for about 2 hours (I was stuck in traffic and had no cell phone reception), and I realized that I want my own ladder to build and climb. It was at this moment that I decided with exception of the occasional gig with Money For The Toll, Transient will be my priority, and I will NOT be taking on any other projects until this album is completed. Because I have a very uncompromising veiw that if someone says they are to do something, then that person should follow through with his/her word, unless there is a good COMMUNICATED reason why he/she can't. I hope and expect that everyone that reads will hold me to this.

7/28/04 - I know, I know............I have neglected this for way too long. Now that lives are in order and settled, I have decided to take a break from live playing. After conferring with my wife, I have decided to cut my personal vacation a little short and finish what was started. The way I'm thinking right now, unless the money is REALLY good, I'm not budging until this is done. Once again we are stuck without a name, so don't be surprised if everything is recorded and a release has to wait because we can't find a name that we are happy with that isn't taken.
